Privacy Policy — Thundr Chat

Last updated: January 12, 2025

1. Information we collect

We only collect the information necessary to deliver safe, real-time video chat experiences. When you create an optional account, we store your chosen handle, hashed credential, language preferences, and device metadata. During live sessions we collect diagnostic data such as connection quality, bitrate, packet loss, and latency so we can optimize delivery in real time.

We do not record video or audio content. Metadata about your matches, session length, trust score, and moderation events is stored for a maximum of 30 days. If you participate in creator monetization or enterprise integrations, we collect additional information required to process payouts or honor contractual obligations, such as tax residency, billing details, or corporate identifiers.

2. How we use your information

Data is used to provide and improve the service, enforce community guidelines, and communicate product updates you opt into. Connection data keeps sessions stable; trust scores and moderation reports are used to detect harmful behavior and safeguard the community.

We analyze aggregated usage patterns to understand emerging trends and to prioritize new safety automations. When we collaborate with researchers or partners, we share anonymized statistics only. Any optional marketing emails include a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer of the message.

3. Sharing and disclosure

Thundr Chat does not sell personal data. We share information with carefully vetted processors who help us host infrastructure, deliver push notifications, or process payments. Each partner signs data processing agreements that require strong privacy controls and restrict secondary use.

If the law requires us to disclose information, we respond narrowly and notify affected users when permitted. For enterprise customers, data sharing is governed by separate agreements that outline the scope, retention, and responsibilities for each party.

4. Your rights and choices

Depending on your region, you may request access, correction, deletion, or portability of your personal information. Submit requests via privacy@thundrchat.com and our compliance team will respond within 30 days. You can manage consents and communication preferences at any time inside Settings → Privacy Center.

Users in the European Economic Area have the right to lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority. California residents may exercise CCPA rights by using the dedicated request form located in the app footer.

5. Data retention and security

Session tokens expire immediately when a chat ends. Diagnostic data is retained for 30 days, while aggregated analytics persist for up to 18 months. Creator payout records and invoicing data follow statutory retention periods in each market.

We protect data using encryption in transit and at rest, regular penetration testing, just-in-time access controls, and compartmentalized service architecture. Incident response drills take place quarterly, and outcomes are reviewed with independent auditors.

6. International transfers

Thundr Chat operates global infrastructure. When personal data moves outside your region, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards. Regional data centers in the EU, US, and APAC reduce cross-border transfers whenever possible.

Enterprise customers can request dedicated data residency. Contact privacy@thundrchat.com for a tailored deployment plan.
